It is with heavy hearts, and much gratitude, that we announce the retirement of much-loved CAUK stalwart Sian Oliphant.
Sian has been an incredible asset to CAUK over the almost 7 years she has worked with us; she has played an integral part in shaping the charity into what is it today. Sian has been a valued colleague and a wonderful supportive friend to our team, our members and their families. There are some really big shoes to fill! We are all really sad to see her go, but we wish her nothing but happiness for her (third!) retirement. Thank you Sian for everything you’ve done for the cavernoma community.
As you will know, CAUK is made up of a very small team of part-time staff. The news of Sian’s departure comes at the same time as Joanne, our current CEO, is being forced to cut down operating hours due to an unexpected change in family circumstances. CAUK have decided to turn these circumstances into an exciting opportunity and have created a unique CEO job-share arrangement, from which CAUK will benefit from two sets of skills, experiences, networks and passions.
Joanne will continue to serve under her new title Chief Executive (Support and Awareness Raising Lead). She will remain responsible for delivering our ‘Care’ and ‘Response’ strategic objectives leading on support services, information resources, awareness raising, UK partnerships, human resources, safeguarding and overall charity management.
At the same time, we are currently recruiting for a Chief Executive (Research and Operations Lead) to take on the responsibility of delivering our ‘Cure’ and ‘Underpinning Operations’ strategic objectives leading on research, medical advisory board, international partnerships, finance, fundraising, systems, policies/procedures, governance and data protection.
